Car shipping to Japan
Getting a car to Japan means an ocean booking through an international freight forwarder, which is not what we do. What we do is the leg before it: your door to the US port, priced properly and sent to licensed carriers.
Where the car sails from
Vehicles for Japan load at Long Beach, Tacoma and arrive at Yokohama and Kobe. Japan drives on the left and enforces its own type approval, so an American car is an enthusiast import rather than ordinary transport. Classic and collector vehicles move on this lane far more often than daily drivers.

What we quote, and what we do not. The companies in our panel hold US domestic operating authority. The form below prices the road leg from your address to the departure port and sends it to carriers who run it. The international leg is booked separately, and anyone who quotes you both as one number without naming the vessel is guessing.
Japan car shipping FAQ
How much does it cost to transport a car to Japan?+
Japan is reached by sea, so the cost is a container or a roll-on roll-off booking rather than a mileage rate, and it is quoted by an international freight forwarder. Roll-on roll-off is usually the cheaper of the two and a shared container the next. What we price is the leg before that: getting the car from your door to the US port.
How long does it take?+
Weeks rather than days once the car is aboard, and the sailing schedule matters more than the distance. Add the road time to the port, the export filing window, and customs clearance at the far end.
Can you ship my car to Japan?+
Not the ocean leg. The companies in our panel hold US domestic operating authority, and sending them an overseas request wastes everybody's time. What they do run is the mainland leg to the port, and we will quote that properly. For the ocean leg you want an international freight forwarder.
